interview with Princess Folasade Ogunwusi

Meet one the beautiful sisters of the Ooni of ife in an exclusive interview !

KB. who is Folashade Ogunwusi Fadairo. How would you describe yourself?

PF. Folashade Ogunwunsi Fadairo, the eldest sister of kabiyesi. I am simple, caring, loving, shy, Godfearing and highly reserved lady.

KB. what was growing up like?

PF. growing up was fun and it had its challenges. We had strict upbringing by christian parents who valued education so much.

KB. what schools did you attend?

PF . i attended seventh day adventist primary school, agodi Ibadan.
My secondary school was at isabatudeen girls grammar school, orita bashorun. I proceeded to Osun state college of education, Ilesha and finally Obafemi Awolowo University, ile ife, osun state.

KB. Let’s talk about your career.

PF. I started my career in the shipping line, I later went into landscaping and horticulture. I moved on into the fashion industry thereafter.

KB. As the sister to our royal father, what are your royal duties?

PF. my royal duties are not officially assigned but by virtue of being kabiyesi’s sister, i have those duties naturally entrusted upon me. I attend to visitors who come to the palace, i attend to their needs and see to their welfare. I welcome visitors and travel sometimes officially with him.

KB. how would you describe the Ooni Enitan?

PF. Ooni kabiyesi Enitan is a very humble man of great intellect, vast in knowledge, very wise, so accommodating, very creative and imaginative, very loving. I can go on and on and on.

KB. Did you have any premonition that he would become the Ooni?

PF. yes. There Was a prediction at birth. We saw it coming. Our late mum always called him Adeyeye Ooni while growing up, today that prediction his come to pass.

KB. How has royalty impacted you positively?

PF. It has been positive impact both socially and business wise.

KB. What would you like to change about you?

PF. Absolutely nothing! I am grateful for who I am and how God has created me. On a lighter note, may be to look slimmer. (Smiles).

KB. What is your favorite fashion statement?

PF. I love Rachel Zoe. I love shoes. I can’t ever be tired of shoes, i have over 500 pair of shoes and I am still counting.

KB. What gives you joy?

PF. Seeing people happy and being the source of the happiness gives me tremendous joy.

KB. What gives you the creeps?

PF. Armed robbery. I have been robbed on five separate occasions in the past. The thought those incidents is so scary and gives me the creeps.

KB. what is the happiest day of your life?

PF. (Beaming smiles with happiness lighting her pretty face) the day I had Tamilore, my son. The joy was indescribable.

KB. what is your saddest day?

PF. The day i lost my beloved mum. The pain still lingers.

KB. What lessons did you learn from your mum?

PF. The lessons were innumerable. I learnt generosity from her. She was so generous it had no bounds. She taught us generosity which has become our lifestyle today. She taught us uprightness and truthfulness no matter the situation. I learnt endurance and the art of home building.

KB. And dad?

PF. From my dad, It was knowledge and great encouragement. He taught me never ever to accept defeat. He would always say to me “never say fail”

KB. What are your dreams?

PF. My dreams? I have dreams but uppermost is to have a unique clothing line of my own. It is in advance stage and it would soon be unveiled. The name is WURAOLA by 4LAR. WURAOLA after my late mum whose name was wuraola.

KB. How did you meet your sweet heart?

PF I met my sweetheart at the gas station can you imagine that? He was very polite. That was the initial attraction. I like polite people. I am very polite to people and I appreciate politeness in return.

KB. What Is that special thing he does for you that makes you feel so special?

PF. He makes me feel special in so many ways. He is a good man, wonderful husband who has huge respect for me. This is reciprocal. I respect him and love him. In fact, I love everything about him even though nobody is perfect, his good attributes far outweighs the shortcomings. We play, we laugh lot, we are very open to each other. He is my best friend.

KB. where is he from?

PF. He is a Prince from owu, Abeokuta.

KB. What is the goodwill kabiyesi enjoys that has robbed on you?

PF. The goodwill!….hummmm. I am known all over because I am kabiyesi’s sister. The goodwill comes with instant recognition, respect and elevated social status. I have more opportunities now than before. Doors open for me easily now. Through kabiyesi I have been to place and met with dignitaries.

KB. Tell me one unforgettable in incident with you and kabiyesi as children?

PF. The day we were both playing when he began fiddling with electric wires and almost got electrocuted. He screamed anty Fola ti pami o (meaning anty Fola has killed me o). Our dad called out from the bedroom with concern and in panic. I would have been thoroughly punished but got off the hook because of an uncle who fortunately was around that day. After the incident we began to tease him endlessly. (Laughing) .
