Adesuwa Onyenokwe

I have always been fascinated about Adesuwa Onyenokwe ever before the debut of TW. I admired her style and the easy delivery of her subject of discussion. I have also wondered about her trim figure after six children. How did she manage to look so trim? To me that is a great feat many women can’t pull off including yours truly!

According to Lateefah Adesanya, Adesuwa has been named as one of the 100 most influential women in Nigeria. She wrote that red media’s nomination of the 100 influential women are for ladies who steer the course of history in male dominated environment. Others in these category are Abike Dabiri, Omotola, Joke Silva.

She was also named one of the 15 women of vision by Tiffany Amber, the award for women who have the faith and courage to realize their dreams.

In her chat with TFC ( the Fertile Chick) she mentioned the lessons life taught her which I find so inspiring and I like to reproduce verbatim.

  1. You are the sum of your thoughts, because they guide your attitude which forms your character. So guard the thoughts you let through. You have more control than you think.
  2. The second is trite but true: Change is the only constant thing in life. If you keep this in mind, you can be patient and remain proactive as you chase your dreams because you know it’s never over till you stop breathing. It makes you open to learning everyday.
  3. Success is more about “how” than “when” so focus on enjoying the process/journey rather than being bogged down by the fact that you are not yet “there” yet.

Adesuwa who concluded that with the fact that she is still a work in progress is the publisher of TW ( Today’s Woman). She started her career in Edo Broadcasting Service, Benin before moving on to the Nigeria Television Authority. But her love for broadcasting began when she served in NTA Sokoto during her youth service.

Adesuwa turned 50 three years ago on  8th August. She studied Drama at Obafemi Awolowo University and has a Masters degree from the University of Ibadan.

She is married to Ikechukwu Onyenokwe from Delta State and they have six Children.

  1. Watch out for an exclusive interview whenever I get the opportunity.
