A CONDOLENCE VISIT TO THE ENUGU STATE DEPUTY GOVERNOR

I had no inkling that the deputy Governor of Enugu state was female. I erroneously assumed otherwise. My carnal curiosity was peak high to know her.

Naturally, I was excited that my gender is the deputy. These were the exact words I told her when we went to pay her a condolence visit for the glorious exit of her mother.

I am a great study of first impression; naturally as a blogger, I was super curious. In a society where tradition is worshipped against ability, rights and privileges of a woman, it is a prodigious feat for a woman to get to such position. I was fascinated to know the woman who could shove her way to the top in a complex society that puts multifarious oppositions on the path of women who boldly walk into the terrain assumed as the exclusive rights of the male gender.

Our meeting scheduled for 12pm with her Excellency did not hold until way past 4pm. I had a quick perceptual assessment of her as I watched her walk in confidently with purposeful steps and a gait that perspicaciously revealed a tough no nonsense woman, so I adjusted myself wondering what would unveil before us. I however observed that her staff were not fidgeting nor cowered in her presence. You see, you can get an instant glimpse of one’s personality through interaction with subordinates.

When she turned to me to talk, I looked straight into her eyes and I saw warmth concealed in a hidden smile. As I was talking about our purpose for the visit, in a flash, it occurred to me that what I presumed as toughness could be exhaustion. Even I was physically exhausted during the long wait. I had to accede to the fact that she could be tired as she was just coming in from an event even though it did not show in her mien.

Another quick corporeal assessment and mental computation of her I got a supposition.

As I intrepidly spoke of my assumption of her, her reaction began to uncover her other hidden disposition and I continued to reel it out as I watched her!

I went away with an impression of a woman with enthusiastic confidence, inner beauty, warmth, charisma, elegance and exquisitely polished.

When we took the photographs, she did not hastily pat our backs to show us the way out; she still took ample time to interact with us despite the number of visitors waiting to see her.

As she aspires for greater position, may she continue to walk along the scent of success.
