KUDOS TO FEDERAL ROAD SAFETY CORPS

HEROIC ACT OF OFFICERS IN RESCUE DRAMA

It was a heroic act by men of the Federal Road Safety Corps who rescued a pregnant woman from her abductors in Badagry on Sunday.

The creditable patrol team of Badagry unit command led by Assistant Route commander P. Danboyi accosted the vehicle at AP filling station just before Aradagun Bus stop. The rescued pregnant woman who was injured by her captives was rushed to the hospital by men of the Corps. She went into labour out of trauma from her abductors and gave birth to a bouncing baby boy shortly after admission at Ola-Oki hospital, Ibereko, Badagry.

The suspects, 53-year-old Gabriel Adeosun and 47-year-old Oluwasegun Awusu who was the driver of the vehicle with registration number KTU 356 CE were coming into Lagos from Cotonou. They were chased by other motorists until they were courageously blocked by men of the Corps who also immediately rescued and took the injured woman to the hospital. The suspects rescued by soldiers from the enraged mob ready to lynch them were handed over to the police.

This is laudable and very courageous of men of the Corps who do not bear arms yet put in so much hard work to not only ensure that the motorways are safe for road users but also help safeguard lives and property on the roads.

The delighted Corps Marshal, thrilled by the courage of the officers said that FRSC co-operates with other law enforcing agencies to protect lives on the roads.

News however filtered in that the woman had died from her injuries and her body was deposited at the Badagry General Hospital morgue. The baby is however in good condition. Unfortunately, the woman had no identification on her therefore, her family cannot be reached.
