A NEW INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE APPOINTED

He is Mohammed Abubakar Adamu born September 17 1961 in Lafia, Nassarawa State. He started his Primary Education in Lafia in 1968. He Entered Government Secondary School Obi in 1975. He did a one year Course at School of Basic Studies in Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography in 1983 at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He did his compulsory National Youth Service Corps Scheme at Wamba, former Plateau State now Nassarawa State.

He taught Geography at Government Secondary School Gunduma Keffi in 1984. He joined the Nigeria Police Force as Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1986. From the Police College Ikeja, he was posted to Imo as Divisional Crime and Administrative Officer at Mgbidi Police Station.

He was Officer in Charge of General Investigations at Zone 6 Headquarters, Calabar in 1988 to 1989. He was transferred to Lagos in 1990. He was Deputy Commissioner of Police in Ekiti in 2012 and in Kaduna in 2012. He was posted to Enugu State Command as Commissioner of Police. He Became Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 5 Benin comprising Bayelsa, Delta and Edo Commands.

He served in Interpol Headquarters in Lyon, France as Specialized Officer in Economic and Financial Crime Directorate where he was the first Black African to be Assistant Director and later became Vice President.
