NDLEA UNCOVERS CARTEL PLANTING DRUGS IN TRAVELERS LUGGAGE
Zainab Aliyu was arrested in Saudia Arabia on December 26 at her arrival for lesser Hajj in company of her mother Maryam Aliyu and her sister Hajara Aliyu because a luggage was attached to her Ticket. The Luggage contained trammadol a banned substance.
The cartel behind the planting drugs in Travelers luggage was busted when the father of Zainab wrote a petition to the Nigerian Embassy in Saudi Arabia who advised that the petition should be directed to the NDLEA.
The NDLEA Commandant in charge of Aminu Kano launched into investigation and arrested seven staff of the Airport. They are Idris Umar, (alias Umar Sanda), Sanni Suleiman, Nuhu Adamu, Rhoda Adetunji, Udosen Itoro Henry and Sanni Hamisu.
Zainab Aliyu is a student of Maitama Sule University Kano with Passport number A09911835 on flight ET 941 Ethopian Airline was arrested in the hotel by Saudi Arabian Police because a luggage was tagged to her passport left at the airport. Zainab Aliyu, her Mother and sister had only one Luggage each while traveling and were not aware a second luggage had been attached to her.
In the course of the investigation, their telephones were seized by the Agency and found evidences that on 24th December 2018 Sani Suleiman with telephone number 08036066448 sent pictures of 2 parcels to Umar Sanda on 08065499791. There was also a Whatsapp of two parcels to Umar Sanda on 08065499791, then another from Suleiman on 08036066448 to Alhaji Gabari now at large.
Udosen Itoro Henry issued two tags numbers below luggage of one Ibrahim Abubakar on the 24th December 2018 who was also arrested in Saudi Arabia for importation of Tramadol.
Zainab is presently in detention in Saudi Arabia awaiting investigations and prosecutions.
The report has been sent to the Consul-General in Jeddah for action. This was disclosed by the Chairman of NDLEA, Col Muhammed Abdallah RTD.
This clearly shows that many Nigerians arrested and executed for drug trafficking in Saudi Arabia might be innocent.
