OLDEST WOMAN IN BRITAIN DIES AT 112 ATTRIBUTES LONG LIFE TO WHISKY

She is Grace Jones fondly known as Amazing Grace. She died peacefully in her sleep in her home in Worcenter on Friday. She had lived through 26 Prime Minister, Five Monarchs and survived both world wars. She was fit and active till the end, having had a fulfilling life. She was very popular and celebrated her 112 birthday in August.

She was born in !906, five years after the death of Queen Victoria, she became the oldest person after the death of the previous title holder Olive Boar at the age of 113, the title now goes to 111 year old Dorothy Payne of Sevenoaks in Kent who was born on August !907.

Grace Jones’ daughter, 80 year old Dierdre McCarthy said her mother did everything in style even though she was tired she never grumbled.

Grace Jones was the daughter of a Vicar and she married Chief Engineer Leonard Roderick Jones in 1993 in Liverpool and stayed married for 53 years until he died in 1986 at the age of 79.

They had one daughter Deirdre and live moving around the country 28 times in total, the Super centenarian said her best memory was when she married her husband because he was a true gentleman.

Grace Jones attributed the secret of her long life to Whisky. She recommended a little drop of whisky with a drop of water every night. She started having a nightly tot of it when she turned 50, she said her doctor told her to keep up with it because it was good for her heart.

She would be buried at St.Micheal & All Angels Cof E Church in Church street, Broadway on Tuesday July 2nd.
