PLEASE RESCIND BAN ON KEKE MARWA AND OKADA

The frustrations of commuters cannot be weighed on any scale. Dropping off acquaintances at the nearest bus stop gave me a close perception of commuters’ exasperations. Maneuvering from the traffic lane into the available kerb space for my passengers to alight from the car got this man visibly angry. Obviously, I deprived him from walking at his own pace. My usual self would have be on the defensive but compassion whispered empathy to cognizance of his state of mind at that time. FRUSTRATION, EXASPERATION that trigger FURY because of energy dissipation in a hot sunny day!  I just put my two hands together in entreaty and he went right passed me without any further incidence.

I had seen that brooding frustrations on the faces of commuters on the long stretch it took me to get to my destination. I thought about one of the passengers in my car, pregnant woman just weeks away from delivery. I thought of the little school girl I tried to offer a ride who declined civilly with a smile and good diction, I don’t blame her though, she would rather trudge the long tiring journey to school than be sorry she took a ride from a stranger. Stopped to pick up something around Ikeja, a loud commotion disconcerted me momentarily until I realized that people were jumping into the available bus that just arrived as if they were fleeing from a burning car.

Honestly, the recent ban or restrictions on Okada and Marwa without immediate palliative measures in place have brought indescribable hardship and inexpressible frustrations.  For the sake of school children, the feeble, women especially pregnant women. I beg the Lagos State Government to rescind its recent restrictions as they like to call it on Marwa. At least let there be Keke Marwa! I always feel guilty driving my jalopy (which I have come to cherish like Gold this season) past commuters and can do nothing, it makes me feel oppressing.
