She is American former Actress and she is popular for her role as Gretl Von Trapp the youngest Child of the Von trap in the popular Film Sound of music. She was born in Los Angeles, California to Speros Karathanasis and Aurelia Karathanasis and has a sibling called Frances Karath. She was married to Philippe L Equibec from 1985 to 2005 and they have a son Eric. Kym gave up acting to be a model but wanted to return to acting but her son became her focus when he contacted meningitis and suffered a stroke. She said her son needed her attention.

She was the last child among the seven children of the Von Trapps in the movie sound of music.
