The Federal Government has shifted the date for Human Papillomavirus Vaccine (HPV) scheduled for September 25 to October 24, 2023. Dr. Faisal Shuaibu, the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency disclosed this to PUNCH on Sunday. He said the postponement was for creation of more awareness of the vaccine. The Introduction of the Vaccine was supposed to kick off in 16 States including Abuja. Dr. Shuaibu said the states were not fully ready to launch.

In Lagos State, the Government said it would announce a new date for the introduction of the HPV Vaccine campaign scheduled for Monday 25, 2023 for logistics reasons as informed by the Federal Ministry of Health. This was disclosed in a statement signed by its Deputy Director of Public Affairs, Filade Olumide. The HPV has the potential to prevent more than 90% of HPV attributable cancers.
