16 DEAD AND 27 INJURED IN KADUNA ABUJA EXPRESSWAY ACCIDENT

Daily post reports that Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Kaduna sector command says that no fewer than 16 persons died and 27 sustained injuries in a road crash along Kaduna-Abuja expressway on sunday. The Sector commander, CC Kabir Nadabo told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that trhe fatal accident occurred at Jhangon village. The crash occurred at 5.20 hours when a DAF trailer with registration Number LUJ 430 XC with overloaded goods lost control and fell into a ditch with initial reports that indicated high speed due to fatigue. The combined rescue teams of RS1.114 Zhipe Unit Command and RS1,16B Dutse outpost conducted the rescue operations. The crash was said to involve 65 people, 27 were injured and 16 died. The Sector Commander said he visited the scene of the accident for first-hand information as well as direct the rescue team on evacuation of the dead to the morgue as soon as he received the report of the accident.

He also directed the tow truck to remove the part of the accidented trailer blocking the road. The operation made way for free vehicular movement afterwards.
