The blessing of an absent and indolent father is as useless as his irresponsibility! It carries no weight. Who says the prayers of the single mother has not been effective all through the irresponsible father’s absence and cannot continue to thrive in the lives of her children even in marriage? Honour thy father does not mean honour an irresponsible father. Where is the place of ‘’whatever a man sows he would reap?’’ When it is time for the woman to enjoy the harvest of her sacrifices over her child(ren) some nonsense, hogwash, hokum patriarchal tradition and religion would creep in to puncture her joyful garner.

If a mother had abandoned her children, the same patriarchal jingoist would deny her children mother’s blessings. Double sexist standard that is why irresponsible, defective, absconding, fickle deserting fathers thrive all over the place because tomorrow the blinkered society would usher his two miserable left legs up to reap what he did not sow. Real codswallop!

Nevertheless, Happy father’s day to all the men who have been wonderful fathers to their children.
