INAUGURATION OF DRUG CLUBS IN SCHOOLS

The Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA Niger State Command has revealed that 70% of schools on the State have established drugs clubs to curb substance abuse saying that this year alone the command has arrested 250 persons with illicit drugs and 64 of them have been convicted and remanded in correctional centres. The Commander of NDLEA of the State, Bwalin Musa said that 2,218.02 of Indian hemp was recovered through raids on identified black spots.

He said the tremendous effort under the Chairmanship of General Mohammed Buba Marwa would not relent in efforts to curb drug abuse across the State.

As part of actions of International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking with the theme ‘PEOPLE FIRST, STOP STIGMATIZATION AND DISCRIMINATION, STRENGTHEN PREVENTION’ awareness is on going in various schools both Secondary and tertiary institutions to educate on the dangers of associating with illicit drugs.
