The Corpses of the three medical students who went missing when the boat capsized on Saturday 24, 2023 have been found. They are Aisha Celestine Ogwu of the University of Uyo, Mustapha Tukur and Hamza Kabir both of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.

According the Punch Newspaper, the state Commissioner of Police Gyogon Grimah who confirmed the news, also commended the Police and the Community for their rescue efforts.

Meanwhile, the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) confirmed the arrest of the operators of the boat. According to the General Manager, Corporate Communication, Jibril Dardu’a the preliminary investigations revealed that the crash was caused by Overloading, Engine malfunctioning, rainy weather and heavy turbulence. The jetty Operators have not only been arrested, the jetty had been sealed because the Jetty was not registered nor approved by NIWA.

He commiserates with the families, friends, loved ones and the medical Students Association for the huge loss, prays to God Almighty to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and their gentle souls to rest in peace.
