The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the promotion of 7000 officers according to the Punch newsreel.

NIS also redeployed 12 new Comptrollers to their respective States of assignment. This Promotion signed by the acting Service Spokesperson Kenneth Kure who was also elevated to the rank of Assistant Comptroller, said the promoted officers are senior officers and junior staff who were upgraded because additional acquisition of qualifications.

The Acting Comptroller-general Wuraola Adepoju approved the appointment of the immediate past service spokesperson, Tony Akuneme as FCT Command Comptroller while she also approved the appointment of Joseph Dada as the new Principal Officer to the Comptroller-General, who was the comptroller in Charge of the Marine Border Corps at the service headquarters.

During the monthly parade, she charged the officers to put the image of the Service above personal interests stating that they are the first point of interaction with visitors coming to the country. She promised to that welfare of staff would be top priority. The era where newly recruited officer promoted over and above older staff was over and henceforth promotions would be strictly on seniority. This is because it is disheartening to see and noted that the recent elevation was necessary, as any staff who is not well motivated cannot guarantee quality output.
