Leanne Leary was 38 years old. She traveled to Istanbul on June 30 for surgery to have 80% of her stomach removed and she died alone in a Turkish hospital following E2, 000 upfront for a gastric sleeve procedure. She was a loving mum from Hollinwood, Oldham who went to for the procedure in excitement and when the family did not hear from her after some hours that the procedure should be over they called the hospital. They were informed that she suffered a heart attack but she was in stable condition. Her parents flew to Turkey the following day and when they arrived at the hospital, they were told that Leanne had suffered another heart attack and had tragically passed away. The family are still waiting for answers how her condition deteriorated so suddenly. Her body was taken back to England for autopsy. Her devastated Ex-Husband, Steven Leary and father of her two children said that the family has been left in utter shock by her sudden death. He described her as very bubbly, life, and soul of the party. She was very kind and generous and always willing to help other people even when she might need it herself. He said she had struggled with weight over the years and had developed asthma, which made it difficult to exercise.  She was on the waiting list to have a procedure in England but it was five years. She did not want to wait for five years because she had a target, which was her 40^th birthday. Since her friend had her procedure in Turkey and had amazing results. She did not read the bad press but took all the positives and was one hundred percent confidence in it that it was absolutely safe. In England, the same procedure in a private hospital would cost E12, 000.  Since every information is on website, they knew the approximate time for the procedure to finish. When they did not hear from her by 7pm in the evening, they started to panic. She was brought back home after the hospital told them she had died after suffering a heart attack twice because they did not want a post-mortem on her.

All her three children have been placed in the care of Steven Leary and partner. A fundraiser had been set up to support the children. He wants other people to know that even if they are struggling with their weight there is help available in the country. And surgery should be the last resort.
