FIRE GUTS 20 SHOPS IN A SHOPPING COMPLEX IN ILORIN

Fire has destroyed a mini complex of 20 shops in Fufu street, Sabo-Oke in Ilorin, Kwara State destroying goods worth millions of Naira. The Spokesperson of the fire service said the fire incident occurred at about 5.57am due to power surge. The spokesperson said when they got the distress call, the immediately mobilized its firefighting team to the scene of the incident to swiftly initiate firefighting operations to suppress the flames and prevent it from spreading further. Due to the specialized equipment and firefighting techniques the fire was curtailed such that one shop was affected in the mini shopping complex of about 20 shops, minimizing the direct and indirect damages. furthermore other shops and property were saved from fire damage.

The Director of the state Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa urged the citizens to always cultivate the habit of switching off all electrical appliances as this would help prevent the chances of fire outbreaks in homes, offices and shops.
