HOODLUMS LOOT WAREHOUSES FINTIRI DECLARES CURFEW

 A 24-hour curfew has been imposed in Adamawa State over the looting of two warehouses by hoodlums. Daily post Reports that some of the hoodlums were also looting private shops and attacking people. The chief press Secretary of the Governor, Humwashi Wonosikou said the curfew was necessary due to the dangerous dimension the activities of hoodlums had assumed across the state as they attacked people with machetes and broke into business premises carting away property. With the curfew, only people on essential duties with valid identification would be permitted to move around during the period of curfew. He urged citizens to comply with the directive as anyone caught contravening the law would be arrested and prosecuted.

In a relative development, the Adamawa State police command has confirmed the arrest of 25 youths who were allegedly involved in the looting. The police public Relations Officer SP Suleiman Nguroje said the suspects were picked up and items recovered from them. He said that the looting has been brought under control and attention is now shifted on enforcing the curfew. He revealed that the Police commissioner Afolabi Babtola had personally gone to the streets to ensure the enforcement and has set up a task force with the police and sister agencies.

The Yola Area Office of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed the looting of its warehouses by the hoodlums who gained access to the warehouses by breaking down the walls. Laban Ayuba the Head of Operations who spoke to newsmen said the hoodlums carted away food and non-food items in the warehouse. He said the items were meant for distribution to poor Nigerians to cushion their hardship.
