The Super Falcon’s player made history on Thursday following a 3-2 win by Nigeria against Australia at the FIFA Women’s world cup.

Her love for football started in Secondary School. Her parents initially kicked against her interest in sports but they came around to support her and had the support of her grandmother. Asisat revealed that she was always in trouble any time she went out to play football. She said she does not get to sleep at home, as she had to go to her grandmother’s place to sleep at night. According to her she made her parents realize that something positive comes out of allowing young children go after their dreams.

Oshoala joined FC Rivers International in Lagos after her secondary school and was with the team until 2013 where she joined Rivers Angels.

In 2014, she scored 7 goals at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World cup in Canada and made Nigeria qualify to the final that was when her skills came to the fore.

She became the first African to play in the Women’s Super league. She made 9 appearances and scored three goals when she was signed to Liverpool ladies between January 2015 to 2016. She described the experience as something special and will give her a lot more experience and having a chance to play in Champions league.

She won the BBC women’s footballer of the year award in 2015. She became the first player to be awarded by BBC world service.

She was the first player in Nigeria and Africa to score in three women’s world cups.

She won the Africa Women’s footballer of the year five alternate times of 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2022.

The first African Player to score a goal in a UEFA Women’s Champions league final.

Two times winner of the UEFA Women’s Champion’s league with Barcelona Feminine.

She won the best player of the tournament in 2014 as the highest goal scorer at the FIFA U-20 women’s World Cup
