Senator Oluremi Tinubu and many fans have risen in unison to applaud the gallant super Falcons even though England won with penalty kicks. The first lady commended the players for their superb performance and said she was very proud of the girls who played their hearts out in the round 16 encounter.

The first lady watched the match with the wife of the vice president, Mrs. Nana Shettima and the wife of the Senate President, Mrs. Ekaette Akpabio on Television. In a statement signed by her Special Adviser on Media and publicity Busola Kukoyi, the first lady described the game as tension-soaked saying that the super falcons were no pushovers. She said ‘the only thing the England side had going for them was simply luck’’ adding that she was proud of their performance and told the team that she would be waiting to receive them as true heroes on their return home.
