NIGERIA BEAT ALGERIA IN HANDBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

The National under 18 women’s handball team defeated their opponent Algerian team on Saturday with 28-18 in the first game in Monastir, Tunisia. The National Team made an impressive game in the first match to make the nation proud even though the first half was not so impressive against their opponent with a pulsating 10-10. The however won the second half scoring 18-8 to make the total score at 28-10.

The national coach Shittu Agboola has described the game as ”a good beginning”. he said ‘i noticed that the girls were having unnecessary turnovers, so i made some tactical changes that saw the team use the wings more in the second half. The girls played with instructions which gave us a good result. We are here to win all our games, we came for a serious business”.

Taiwo Babatunde was voted the most valuable player of the match in the Nigerian Team. Nigeria would play their next match against Guinea on Sunday at 4.pm. Nigeria is in group A with Guinea, Tunisia and Algeria in the 19th Africa Women’s Youth Handball Championship which started on Saturday and will end on September 23.
