NIGERIAN EMERGES STUDENT UNION PRESIDENT IN UK UNIVERSITY

Jeremiah Fasipe has emerged the president of the Students Union at Sheffield Hallam University, United Kingdom. Fasipe currently a postgraduate student of Public Relations and crisis management defeated five other candidates with 792 votes and declared winner. He became the 30th president of the university SUG. Fasipe claimed that hard work, resilience and determination saw him through noting that he has always believed in himself and viewed the victory as a dream come true. He said his emergence as president was a step towards greater accomplishments saying that he would use his position to bring positive change and promote the image of Nigeria abroad. Despite growing up in penury in kirikiri town, Lagos, he never allowed uncontrollable circumstances to make him relinquish his dreams and urged students not to give up on their dreams but aspire for greatness. Experience may not be enough but belief and determination should be strength.

As president, he wants to use the opportunity to improve students’ academic life at the University as well as represent every decision regarding their academic needs and uphold mandates upon which he is elected.

It is a milestone, which he is euphoric about. He is also the winner of the Inspirational Individual award.
