ZULUM GIVES BROTHELS AND OTHERS 12 HOURS TO VACATE MAIDUGURI SETTLEMENT

Babagana Zulum of Borno State has issued a 12 hour quit notice to brothels and other elements engaging in illegal activities including prostitution and drug trafficking in Bayan quarters of Maiduguri.

Governor Zulum ordered the settlement harbouring criminals and under aged girls for commercial sex activities to be demolished in 72 hours. It is believed that the suspected criminals reside and engage in crime within the settlement and expressed worry over the level of insecurity in the area due to the illegal brothels and criminal dens. He said the activities of the criminals promote insecurity in the state and perpetuate social vices that undermine the well-being of communities. The Governor announced the revocation of the land title, which was approved for the Nigerian railway corporation by the Borno State Government but rented out illegally. He said people were killed and it serves as a breeding ground for insurgents.
