VANGUARD reports that the Oyo State High court yesterday upturned the appointment of the New Soun of Ogbomosho, Oba Ghandi Olaoye and ordered a fresh selection process to the stool. The Oyo Sate Government announced the Ghandi as the new Soun and made him king on September 8, 2023. Kabir Olaoye one of the contestant not satisfied with the process dragged Ghandi to court saying he was not eligible to be the next Soun. Kabir contested that there was a flaw in the process he was appointed.

Justice K.A Adedokun in his judgment ruled that the appointment of Oba Ghandi Olaoye was illegal and ordered a start of right process to elect a new Soun. Justice Adedokun had earlier dismissed three petitions brought before him by one Adeyemi Olaoye who also was challenging the appointment of oba Ghandi.
