REMI TINUBU LAUNCHES N950M ELDERLY SUPPORT SCHEME IN LAGOS

The first Lady and wife of the President, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu has launched the N950m renewed Hope Initiative Elderly support scheme GEHIESS aimed to support vulnerable elderly citizens from age 65 and above in all the 36 states of Nigeria during the festive period. Senator Oluremi Tinubu said this at the maiden edition of RHIESS held at lagos House Ikeja. The initiative was themed ”better days ahead” is an economic empowerment programme for the well-being of elderly citizens across the country.

DR. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu presented the cash worth N250m and gift items to the beneficiaries on behalf of Senator Remi Tinubu and said the gesture marked a significant stride in the Government’s collective pursuit of a more inclusive and compassionate society. Over 250 beneficiaries selected from the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local council development areas were given the sum of N100,000 each. She said the total disbursement is N950m as approved by the Governing board of the Renewed Hope Initiative and each state of the federation received the sum of N25m which includes beneficiaries from Lagos State. She said that the event was held simultaneously in all the 36 states of the federation and it included veterans of Defence and Police Officer’s wives association (DEPOWA) as beneficiaries from the initiative. Mrs Tinubu charged the senior citizens to embrace life to the fullest, prioritize their health and strengthen their bonds with loved ones and with God stressing that ”these are the key ingredients to a rich and fulfilling life in their golden years. The event featured the presentation of cash, free medical screening and distribution of other sundry items.
