TEN KILLED IN JEBBA BODE SAADU EXPRESSWAY

The Federal Road Safety Corps, Kwara State Command has confirmed the death of ten people in a multiple accident on Thursday in Ile pupa along Jebba-Bode Saadu expressway. The Sector Commander of the State, Corps Commander Fredrick Ogidan said that the incident occurred around 6.30 pm due to wrong overtaking and speed violation. He said 17 people comprising of 12 male adults, 2 female adults, a male child and 2 female children were involved in the incident. Out of this number, 7 male adults, one Female children died in the crash.

Three vehicles were involved in the crash. A petroleum Tanker, Toyota Corolla with Registration number GWA 22DD and Volkswagen Sharon bus with Registration number AKD733FX. The white Gallop Commercial JAC Petroleum Tanker belonging to DANMARNA Petroleum Ltd was identified.

The sum of N60,750 cash was recovered from the crash. Survivors who sustained various degrees of injuries were taken to the nearby hospital for medical treatment while the dead were deposited at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital mortuary.

The Police command in Jebba has taken custody of the vehicles involved in the crash. The Sector Commander advised Motorists to be cautious about their speed and overtaking on the highways, stating that there would be another commencement of enforcement on speed violation and overloading from Monday July 17.
