TWO TEENAGE SISTERS FAKE KIDNAP TO DEMAND N100K RANSOM IN ONDO

PUNCH reports that The Ondo State Security Network Agency known as AMOTEKUN CORPS has arrested over 28 people for crimes allegedly committed in the state. Among them were two secondary school pupils who allegedly faked their kidnap and demanded Ransom from their mother. The State Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye on Monday 17 July revealed that the pupils were 15 and 13 years old and were in JSS1 and JSS3 respectively. The pupils hid somewhere at Oka-Akoko in Akoko Local Government Area of the State while they called their mother and pretended to be kidnappers and demanded for N100,000 ransom. They called the Monarch of the Town to pay the ransom and threatened to will the abductees in their custody if the money wasn’t paid within 24 hours.

One of the girls who confessed claimed that her elder sister lured her to the crime. She said she and her sister had spent the night in their Grandma’s place and while on their way back home from there, her sister told her she had a plan to get money from their mother. It was her sister who taught her what to say when they put a call through to their mother. She said when they called they did not know it was the Monarch that was speaking with them on the phone when they threatened to kill the victims if the ransom was not paid quickly. The girls were tracked to where they were hiding through the telephone line they used by joint efforts of the Department of State services and Amotekun.

He said that the 28 suspects arrested shows that there were more kidnapping activities than any other criminal activities in the state, saying that they want to ensure that Kidnapping becomes a thing of the past especially where people kidnap themselves and raise false alarm. Through diligent investigations they would be caught.
