Daily Post reports that at the early hours of Monday morning, hundreds of civil servants blocked the gate to the state government secretariat in Ibadan, Oyo State. The Workers blocked the gate to demand an audience with Governor Seyi Makinde over issues affecting their service to the state. The workers demanded palliatives, upward review of pension allowances, payment of salary deductions, payment of leave bonuses, gratuities of retirees that have stagnated since 2021 and the release of promotion letters for years 2021 and 2022 amongst others.

The workers were said to comprise various trade unions like Nigeria labour Congress (NLC), the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP) The Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) and their affiliate bodies.
