kim Sledge was born on the 21st of August 1957 to Mother Florez and Edwin Sledge. Edwin was a tap dancer and her mother was actress. She together with her sisters, Debbie born on July 9, 1954, Joni born September 13, 1956 and kathy born January 6, 1959 started the band in Philadelphia in 1971. The sisters were given vocal training by their grandmother Viola Williams who was a lyric Soprano Opera Singer and protege of civil rights leader Mary Maclead Bethune.

The Sledge Sisters sang in Family Church, William Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and afterwards started engaging in many shows and events. They recorded many Albums before their breakthrough album ‘WE ARE FAMILY” in 1979. they topped the 3rd position in US album chat and number 2 on US billboard and earned a Grammy award.

She Turned 66 on Monday 21st August, 2023.
