Babagana Zulum of Borno State has ordered the immediate closure of the internally displaced persons (IDP) camp located within Government Senior Science Secondary School (GSSSS), Mungono in order to make room for rehabilitation of the school and subsequent resumption of academic activities.

Daily post reports that the Governor gave the instruction on Tuesday during an inspection visit to the camp to assess the extent of destruction resulting from terror attacks and the prolonged use by IDP. GSSSS Monguno houses IDPs from Kukawa, Nganzai, Marte, and Guzamala displaced by insurgents.

1000 houses in Monguno are part of the housing intervention of over 10 thousand reseltment houses constructed by Zulum’s administration since 2019. The Governor hinted that IDPs from communities and villages that have attained relative peace will be returned particularly those from kekeno, Mile 90 and Yoyo among others with resettlement package for those willing to return to pick up pieces of their lives.
