ONDO: MURDERED WOMAN STABBED BY MENTALLY CHALLENGED TEENAGE NIECE SAYS POLICE

DAILYPOST reports the killing of a 54-year-old civil servant, Mrs Funmilayo Adelayi by her 17-year-old niece, Wunmi Aduloju in Akure, Ondo State by the Ondo State Police command who disclosed that the suspect had mental issues.

The Police Public Relations Officer PPRO Funmilayo Omisanya stated that medical records from the psychiatric hospital where the suspect had been receiving treatment confirmed her health status.

It was reported that Wunmi stabbed the deceased in her three-bedroom bungalow along superjet Road, Premier Estate, off Oda Road, Akure South local Council Area of the state with the decomposing body discovered a few days later. The suspect has been arrested and had been taken to police medical facility for safe keeping to avoid injury to herself and others while the remains of the deceased was taken to the mortuary. During the clean-up, a mark of violence (stabbing) was observed while a knife was also found at the scene of the crime.

preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased lived with her 17 year-old niece, Omowunmi Aduloju who suddenly disappeared and locked her door. The stench oozing out of the house attracted the residents, who notified the deceased sister. The body was on the floor when the sister arrived at the house to peep through the window which informed her calling the cops. The decomposing body was removed for preservation.
