OUTBREAK OF STRANGE DISEASE IN KAFANCHAN

THE GUARDIAN reports an outbreak of strange disease in Kafanchan in Jama’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, which has already claimed lives of ten children with others presently in the hospital. The Disease, which affected the respiratory system of the children between the ages of 3 to 13, is now being under investigation by medical experts. The strange disease was confirmed by the Chief Medical Director of Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa Memorial Hospital, Dr. Isaac Nathaniel.

The Executive Chairman of Jema’a Local Government Comrade Yunana Markus Barde has called on the citizens to be pro-actively fast to act whenever they discovered children from 0 -13 years are confronted with symptoms like difficulty in breathing, block airways in the throat, excessive pains on the throat and runny nose are noted in the communities in order to arrest the outbreak from escalating and becoming uncontrollable. He advised the primary Health care personnel, traditional Institutions, religious leaders and parents to act accordingly.

He lamented that some individuals are hiding some of the victims, as the catastrophe is not to their detriment alone but to the society at large.  The disease has already claimed lives and if care is not taken can claim more lives as a result of negligence and ignorance. He said Experts from Abuja and Kaduna are coming for intervention and advised citizens to disclose, expose and convey whatsoever is suspecting such symptoms to primary Health Care and other relevant authorities.
