RWANDA RETIRES 12 GENERALS WHILE CAMEROON RESHUFFLES OFFICERS AFTER COUP IN GABON

Two of the long-serving African leaders Paul Biya and Paul kagame made changes in their respective military formations on Wednesday.

Vanguard reveals that the changes are coming on the heels of the recent coup that ousted their counterpart, Ali Bongo of Gabon.

In what appeared as panic that gripped the leaders of the African continent, Kagame retired 12 Generals and other officers in Rwanda Defence Force (RDF). Kagame retired 83 military officers including 12 generals. Similarly, Biya has made changes to Cameroon’s Ministry of Defence as he announced reshuffling the country’s defence ministry. Biya is 90 and one of the longest serving African leaders who grabbed power in a coup d’état in 1982. While Kagame is 65 years old assumed power in 2015 and Rwanda’s constitution was altered to allow him remain in power until 2034.
