SIX DIE AND ONE INJURED IN ONDO ROAD ACCIDENT

A fatal road accident on Tuesday evening claimed the lives of six travelers along Akure-Owo highway near Akure airport in Ondo State. The vehicles involved are MAN diesel truck and a Toyota Sienna space bus with registration number FFN 310 PU during a heavy downpour. The Accident left six people dead while one was injured. The space bus who left the Popular Benin Garage in Akure got involved in the accident a few minutes afterward was said to be heading to Edo State.

The Sector Commander of Ondo State Command of Federal Road Safety Corps, Corps Commander Ezekiel SonAllah confirmed the incident and stated that at the time of the collision, there were eight people inside the two vehicles involved. During preliminary investigations, FRSC revealed that the cause of the accident was over speeding and an ill-advised overtaking manoeuvre. The Sector Commander stressed the importance of adhering to speed limits and proper overtaking procedures to prevent such tragic incidents.

The items found at the scene of the accidents were handed over to the police operatives stationed at Ogbese in Akure North Local Council.

The dead bodies have been deposited at the general Hospital Mortuary in Akure while Obstruction has been cleared.
